Hello Everybody!
Happy New Year!
This is the first blog of the year.
The tittle of the blog is ‘Are you still on
holiday?’ but
that’s a
rhetorical question because I know the answer. Yes, 7th January, 2015 was our first day
of English class but I know that you didn’t have lessons at school because it
still was a holiday for you, not for me! And I also understand how difficult is
going back to class! Trust me! (Believe me!)
Thank you to Almudena and Laura for coming to
class. So, what did we do? Only girls! , what means that we talked and talked…until the cows came home! (This English saying means, to talk for a long time) We talked about clothes, concerts, going out,
last holidays… We also commented the terrible news that had happened in Paris;
we didn’t know how it was to finish back then.
…and, we went on a trip!
We played a board game called “Around the world
in 100 days!” no, not this one!
The game consisted in throwing the dice and
following the instructions we had on the square we had landed. Sometimes we had
to make decisions, sometimes we didn’t. For example, you land in Berlin: “You’ve forgotten your traveller’s cheques! Go back to London and get
them! So, you had to go back until
the ‘London square’. Delhi: “you’ve started to feel
ill, what do you do? a) Go straight to the doctor. b) Stay in your hotel room
and wait. c) Push on with your journey.
One of the answers made you lose no time, another one
meant to add four days to your journey time and another one made you add seven
days.
Did you make the right choice? Did
you consider the advantages and
disadvantages of going to a doctor in India, keeping travelling despite
your illness, going to an Indian hospital…?
The winner was the person who got to the end of
the journey, that is, who got to the finish square making the journey in the fewer days. None of you were able to finish in
100 days! Almudena won, but she made the journey in
111 days!
Who can blame her? She went to Paris twice because it was so
beautiful! She had to spend one whole day buying souvenirs for the family! She stayed longer
because she
wanted to visit the giant
turtles! …It was worth it!
Well, I wonder how many of you I’m going to see
in the next class now that Christmas is over! I hope to see all of you!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Bye!
