We read and listen to a short interview about Pantomime.
What is special about this sort of 'theatre play'?
We explained what Pantomime is. We have the opportunity to see a pantomime performance in Madrid. We gave you a piece of paper with the information about dates and prices, in case you would like to go to the show.
Pantomime
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pantomime (informally panto), is a type of musical comedy stage production, designed for family entertainment. It was developed in England and is generally performed during the Christmas and New Year season. Modern pantomime includes songs, slapstick comedy and dancing, employs gender-crossing actors, and combines topical humour with a story loosely based on a well-known fairy tale.[1] It is a participatory form of theatre, in which the audience is expected to sing along with certain parts of the music and shout out phrases to the performers.
Pantomime has a long theatrical history in Western culture dating back to classical theatre, and it developed partly from the 16th-centurycommedia dell'arte tradition of Italy, as well as other European and British stage traditions, such as 17th-century masques.[1] An important part of the pantomime, until the late 19th century, was the harlequinade. The pantomime is performed today throughout Britain and, to a lesser extent, in other English-speaking countries.
Then we talked about our project. It seems that in the end you
aren’t going to have a reality show. What you are going to do is a quiz show.
So, this is what you decided. Correct me if I’m
wrong.
Compare a quiz show with a reality show by
watching these videos.
There will be 35 questions. 5 questions written
by each one of you.
Laura is going to write questions
(and find the answer, too. Of course!) about music. Noelia, about films and cinema. Rodrigo about food. Almudena, about history. Jorge about sports. Paula about geography.
And Natalia will be in charge of ‘Especially difficult questions’ that
you can choose if you want to get extra points.
I wonder what you mean by ‘difficult questions’. I asked what country
Edinburgh was the capital of and none of you knew! Is it so difficult for
secondary students to know the capitals of European countries? Is that a “very
difficult question”?
We’ll have a presenter for the quiz. This is going to be Paula.
We are going to have two judges
that choose the questions and check that the answers are right. They’re going to be Almudena
and Noelia. And our contestants will be Jorge,
Rodrigo, Natalia and Laura.
This is your homework. Write
five questions and answers about your topic.
After that we started preparing an activity that we’ll continue doing next
class. It is called ‘English Abroad’
Extra homework that you have to do:
Make
sentences using these words. You can use more than word in one sentence. Write
the sentences on
the blog. I need to check that it
works! Thank you. You’ll get two points for this + 2 more for posting it on the blog.
Accommodation, to book, booking form, camp site, excursions, homestay, and
weekend trips, whale-watching, dive.
Remember to continue the story that Noelia started!!! Also on the blog,
please.
