UK Rules, OK?

Wednesday 6th May

Hello! How are you?
I hope you are enjoying the weekend. The weather is wonderful!
Do you remember what we did last Wednesday?
We revised the rules we had listened to and talked about in the previous class. I was glad to see that you did your homework, well, most of you.
·  If you don’t wear a crash helmet, you might (it’s possible that you) get badly injured (hurt). You have to wear a crash helmet.
·   If you don’t use UV protection on the beach, you might (it’s possible that you) get sunburnt.
You must use sun cream if you sunbathe.
·   If you arrive late for work more than three times, you will get the sack(be dismissed, lose your job)
You mustn’t arrive late at work more than three times.
·   If you don’t have a passport, you can’t travel to this country.
You aren’t allowed to travel to this country if you don’t have a passport.
Why are rules necessary? Because we need order and organization in our society. Some of them are necessary for our safety (wearing helmets, fastening our seatbelts etc.)
After that, we did a communication activity.
We split into two groups. We read some rules from the UK and you had to say if you thought that they were true or false. There was a draw! (The two teams had the same number of correct answers!)After that, we compared the UK rules with the Spanish rules.
You can practise modal verbs in here.
You can practice listening with this exercise

And we finished with a song:
‘I really like you’ by Carly Ray Jepsen
Remember that certain expressions are colloquial or slang. You can use them when you are talking to friends but they aren’t correct English, so you mustn’t use them in a test or in class.
I gotta = I’ve got to (I have to)
Wanna = want to
Do you remember the meaning of these expressions…
out of time / out of touch / out of my mind?
